Technology
The system uses three completely passive cartridges. Each cartridge utilizes advanced molecular sieve technology to continuously remove moisture from the oil and paper insulation from on-line power transformers. The ceramic beads are unique in structure and will adsorb water to the exclusion of anything else. The system will not affect the trending of dissolved gasses. As oil flows from the transformer tank, over the sieve, water is gradually extracted, but in turn is replaced by the water from the winding insulation to maintain a state of equilibrium. The DryKeep sponge technique is unique because the moisture in a saturated cylinder can never be returned to the oil under normal temperatures. Because the process is continuous, the water in the windings is gradually reduced, along with the associated risk of breakdown of the paper insulation at the critical paper/oil interface.
Each DryKeep cartridge is capable of removing a minimum of 3 liters of dissolved water from the oil or 9 liters total. The regeneration process has shown that each cylinder can remove up to 4 liters. A cartridge installed in a dry transformer will last about 5 to 6 years before saturation. The cartridge can be removed, replaced, and regenerated for re-use (at a significantly reduced price).

Drying Time
The time required to dry-out the paper is dependent on many factors, size of transformer, temperature and temperature change being the main. Typically it is between 10 and 24 months.

Oil Circulation Through the DryKeep System
If a transformer operates with natural oil circulation, the small electric pump (90 liters/ 24 gallons per hour), will circulate the transformer oil through the cartridges. The flow rate can be controlled with the outlet valve of the system.
